Metagenics ThyroCalm is a Traditional Chinese and Western herbal formula combining Rehmannia, lemon balm, Prunella and Amla — used for the relief of irritability, nervous unrest and sleeplessness, with lemon balm acting as a nervine and sedative through GABA elevation and Rehmannia supporting the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.

Key Ingredients

• Rehmannia glutinosa: A premier yin tonic in Traditional Chinese Medicine used to improve symptoms of heart fire including insomnia and irritability — shown in animal studies to lower adrenergic receptor affinity and peripheral T4 to T3 conversion, and to reverse morphological changes to the pituitary and adrenal cortex by antagonising glucocorticoid suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis
• Melissa officinalis (Lemon balm): Traditionally used as a nervine and sedative for nervousness, sleeping problems and anxious states — possible anxiolytic activity results from elevation of GABA levels through inhibition of GABA-transaminase, directly calming nervous tension and supporting sleep onset
• Prunella vulgaris (Self-heal): A traditional Western and Chinese herbal medicine herb contributing anti-inflammatory and calming support — working alongside Rehmannia and lemon balm to address the pattern of irritability, nervous unrest and thyroid-related heat that this formula targets
• Phyllanthus emblica (Amla): A highly regarded Ayurvedic tonic fruit rich in antioxidant compounds — contributing broad-spectrum free radical protection and immune-supportive activity to complement the nervine and thyroid-modulating herbs in the formula
